Day 2

Hello all!

So yesterday - day 1 - was fun. I broke my loaner bike, so Cannondale gave me a second one. Go. Figure. I missed about 12 of the 85 miles with the break and replace, but otherwise not so bad.

Day 2 today. 109 miles and our longest day in the ride. It was tough, especially riding on a bike that us brand new to me. I felt good though, but stayed at rest stop a little too long and got into camp late. Shower, eat, about to sleep. Here are some pics:

4:30am wake up and breakfast. My friend Darla at the gear trucks (they had a Christmas theme). The artichoke stand with Tyler, celebrating our no rain, compared to this stop last year. And lunch in Salinas!

Tomorrow, day 3 and quad buster. Ick.

Day 0, AIDS Lifecycle 2013

So, SF and Day 0. I arrived yesterday without a glitch. Fun car cars, sourdough sammiches, golden gate bridges.

All the excitement if the ride is building to DAY ZERO! Orientation, safety video, and seeing old and new friends once again on the ride.

Then... The bike. Somehow during this season, my bike cracked. The stem of the fork where the handlebars are secured is damaged. No repairs possible.

The bike tech repacked my bike, and now She's on her way back home to DC.

In the meantime, the Cannondale support team gives me a loaner. A VERY nice carbon bike. Brand new. All mine for the week. I had a chance to quickly test ride it around the parking lot. We'll see tomorrow how well we get along together. I named her Cruella d'Hill.

So in the meantime, all this happened:
